Assignment Two Completed

Finally I have finished my essay and ready to submit. As I have read and researched so many I have come up with a Working Proposition of "The ultimate Intelligent Society of Learning - Lifelong online learning and participation". Cynthia, I hope this is okay :) As I will be going away I gave myself a new deadline i.e. Everything must be completed by tonight. So, this completes my internet studies for NET11. Thank you so much Cynthia and everyone who have contributed so much at the discussion board. Bye-bye.... :-)

Plagiarism Document

Last night, I read the very important plagiarism document - a contractual agreement between Curtin and myself as announced by Cynthia.

In fact, I have in the past few weeks working on my essay, login to WebCT almost every night checking and reading new posts on discussion board. Of course, checking my result for assignment one. Thank you Cynthia, I'm happy with the mark. :)

Module 5 - Info-Communication Concepts

Immediately after completing assignment 1, I started to go through this module on readings and tried to understand more ‘conceptually’ about the net and the intersection between information and communication. This module covers three sections from Information Ecologies, Peer-to-Peer to the future of the net.

The term Information Ecologies is totally new to me and I find it interesting the many approaches we could have about the Internet. The complexity and uniqueness of the Internet are interrelated system between people and tools where we should continue to learn and participate.

Reading through P2P Networking allowed me to better understanding Peer-to-Peer networking. The effective ways of information sharing and its dynamic potential in business communities should be an exciting one. The downside is however, the emerging challenge of legal concerns.

It was amazing to see how Internet2 have progressed in the past 10 years. Their collaboratively ways of research and education will eventually evolved and transformed information and communication in how we work, learn and communicate. In light of this, I would say this very exciting advancement of technologies has indeed build us to develop our skills and knowledge towards the so called “Learning Society” as cited on page 322 of Phillip C Candy in his electronic PDF version document of Linking Thinking 2004.

Assessment One Completed

Tonight I edited and uploaded my website for WebCT presentation. I have been working on this during the last couple of weeks and finally got it done. I have had several errors when checking my hand coded html and I'm glad I had them all fixed. It was quite a frustrating process anyway by searching information from the Web helped. I also like to thank Cynthia and those who have posted some good tips and information in the discussion board. Greatly appreciated!

Assignment one Resource Project

Continues with assignment one and updating my blog. Reading and responding to discussion board. Not feeling very well today...but happy with what I need to do so far..

Completed & saved: Wednesday 03 January 2007

Today, I continue with Resource Project researching. Using the Copenic Search Agent, I found a very good website on “Guide to effective searching of the Internet” A BrightPlanet Tutorial from URL: http://www.brightplanet.com/resources/details/tutorials.html
I decided to post this in Module 4 as a Tutorial for other students in the discussion board.

Reading tasks and continuing with assignment one Resource Project Annotated Bibliography.

Organising Search Information Task (cont..)

Decide whether or not you will include the source as part of your 'resource bank assignment'I will include UC Berkeley - Teaching Library site as part of my ‘resource bank assignment’ as this site contains excellent source of information for anyone who is interested in exploring and searching the internet using the recommended searching tools. The main idea of this site is to educate people in finding information on the internet from basics to evaluating the web.

I have learned heaps of valuable information from this site and I will use them effectively as a resource site for my learning process. The UC Berkeley - Teaching Library has evidenced resources well referenced to other external sources indicating credibility of its site. It provides detailed skillful techniques for web evaluation by having links to critically investigating a website.

I would say the original ‘snapshot’ of the site for me is the complexity of its content. I would greatly make full use of this site to continuously updating my knowledge in completing this unit – NET11!

As for external users, I suggest they explore this site and make it one of their resources bank as well. I am sure they will appreciate the techniques and questions to ask when evaluating a website.
